Nepal Elections: Parsa Registers 1090 Temporary Voters, Birgunj Jail Becomes Polling Hub

Nepal is gearing up for its House of Representatives elections on March 5. In Parsa district, election officials have registered 1,090 temporary voters. Special voting centers are ready for them. These voters include government workers, prisoners, and security staff. They will vote using the proportional representation system.

Anamika Rauniyar, head of the District Election Office in Parsa, explained the plan. Employees working at polling stations can vote where they are assigned. Other temporary voters will use two main centers. These are Birgunj Jail and the District Post Office.

Birgunj Jail: A Unique Polling Station

Birgunj Jail will serve as a polling center. Baboolal Regmi, the jail administrator, confirmed this. He said 35 inmates are on the voter list. They will vote through the proportional system. A temporary polling station is set up inside the jail. This makes voting easier for the prisoners.

Security Assured for Peaceful Voting

The Parsa district administration is focused on safety. Bhola Dahal, the Chief District Officer (CDO), promised strong security. This will ensure the election is free and peaceful. Mohan Bahadur Kshetri, Superintendent of the Armed Police Force Nepal, agreed. He said security measures are very strong. This helps the election run smoothly.
