CM Sukhu’s Vision for Nahan Medical College

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu visited Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Medical College in Nahan on Sunday. He met with doctors to understand their needs. The Chief Minister wants to improve health services for everyone in the state. He believes medical colleges should offer more than just referrals. His government plans to make significant changes.

Upgrading Medical Facilities

The Chief Minister acknowledged that medical colleges often act as referral centers. He promised reforms to bring better services directly to people within their own state. The government is investing heavily in advanced medical technology. This upgrade will cost about Rs 3,000 crore. These steps aim to boost healthcare quality significantly.

Better Pay for Doctors

The state government has improved pay for doctors. The stipend for Senior Resident Doctors has risen from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Senior Resident Super Specialist Doctors will now receive Rs 1.30 lakh, up from Rs 1 lakh. These increases aim to attract and retain skilled medical professionals.

Expanding Postgraduate Seats

More postgraduate seats will be added to medical colleges. This will allow more students to pursue advanced medical studies. Each medical college will have sections for 60 students. The colleges will also get more staff. This ensures students receive a high-quality education.
